We’re waging war on dust

masonry saws

Protect your employees. IQ Masonry Saws collect 99.5% of hazardous silica dust.

The UK Health and Safety Executive have constantly called attention to the potentially fatal effects of breathing in silica dust when cutting materials such as masonry, concrete, bricks, tiles, stone and mortar. The fine dust generated by sawing these materials is generally called silica or silica dust. It is too fine to see with normal lighting, but it can get deep into the lungs when breathed in and is now recognised as the biggest risk to construction workers after asbestos. In fact, silicosis is now a recognised lung disease that increases the risk of lung infections such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) that is estimated to result in around 4500 deaths annually.

Now Multiquip is doing something about it!

They help to protect the health of workers and are exclusively available in the UK from Multiquip.

deicer for concrete

Multiquip is yet again leading the way with a deicer for concrete like no other.

All other ice melts stop working at -26 F and this goes all the way to -80 F; it even works better the colder it gets.

The product keeps the ice from forming a bond, so it doesn’t just get rid of your ice now, but it protects your projects from icing over in the future, too.

You should still clean all slush from the surface. That doesn’t mean the surface needs to be super clean, just ensure that you don’t have ponding water as that will cause water intrusion and pop-outs. Prompt removal of slush from concrete surfaces will further minimize the chance of damage. The surface will dry after the treatment, making it a very safe walking surface.

This deicer for concrete should be applied with a pump sprayer. It’s important to not over-apply, not just because it’s expensive but because judicious use of deicers will minimize concrete damage. The correct treatment quantities are listed below:

Pre-storm treatment: 800 ft2/gal (19 m2/L)
Once Ice or snow formed: 500 ft2/gal (12 m2/L)

Conditions with ice or snow over 0.5 inch (13mm) may require a heavier rate of application. Reapply as needed

We have a client who sells truckloads of deicer for concrete to contractors every year. One of the items that captured his attention was the ability to use this on “Green” Concrete during the construction phase without fear of chloride damage.

PermaMelt is easy to use and when you keep your surfaces clean, this deicer for concrete is on hand to help you out when the weather might have other ideas about concreting!

Question: Does it work even if a thin film of ice remains on the concrete?

Answer: If you clean the surface the best you can and spray it down it will de-bond the ice and you should then remove that the best you can and then the surface will begin drying as you can see happening in my pictures. This happens because when the temp is that cold the humidity is usually very low and because the water can’t freeze it evaporates.

Still aren’t convinced by the PermaMelt? In two weeks, we’ll be bringing you a project-focused case study on how this deicer for concrete outperforms the competition. Sign up to our email list and you’ll be the first to read about it.

If you have any questions about any of the PermaMelt solutions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at or on 0161 339 2223, and selecting option 3 at the switchboard. Alternatively, you can send us a message via our Contact page.deicer for concrete

Why Buy?

construction products

We’re developing a new construction products comparison tool to help customers make the best choice

After speaking to a number of contractors over the past few months about how they choose which construction products to purchase, it has become very apparent that one of the biggest problems they face is how to accurately compare different brands and alternative machines when searching the market.  At Multiquip we have been considering this dilemma and we’ve decided that, to assist contractors reach an informed decision, we will introduce a Why Buy?’ section onto our website – enabling contractors to quickly and easily compare all the various features and benefits before they make their choice.

The first of our proposed ‘Why Buy?’ pages has now gone live and it focuses on compaction technology.  In particular Plate Compactors and for this inaugural comparison page we have selected the popular Multiquip Mikasa MVC88 and have compared its major attributes to those of another leading plate compactor model.

The Mikasa MVC88 is one of our top selling plate compactors and as you can see from the photograph here, we have pinpointed no fewer than 12 different features and specification factors to compare against the competitor’s model.

If you would like to see the Mikasa MVC88 compared in this like-for-like 12-point comparison guide, please click on this link that will take you to our first comparison page:

> LINK <

Each of the 12 comparison points has been clearly and fairly assessed and we have highlighted the benefits of each of the plate compactor models that have been put under our comparison spotlight.

The Multiquip Mikasa MVC88 is the first of what we intend to become a comprehensive catalogue of website comparison pages covering all the different sections of our construction products portfolio.

Each of the different ‘Why Buy?’ pages will be rolled out over the coming weeks and we will do our best to notify everyone via our blog articles and social media contributions as we progress through the programme.

Make sure you keep a close eye on our weekly blogs to ensure that you don’t miss any of the valuable construction products comparison information that we will be providing.  The information and knowledge you obtain from these pages will most certainly assist your decision-making … and in addition, it could also save you a great deal of money and possible disappointment into the bargain.

If the construction products you are interested in have not yet been included in our comparison pages, but you would like additional information or wish to arrange a personal demonstration, then please do not hesitate to contact us.  You can call us on 0161 339 2223, you can also email us at or you can get in touch by using the online form that can be found on our Contact page.

Smooth Operators

concrete power trowel

We’ve just returned from Sweden after training contractors to operate the latest STX6H ride on concrete power trowel

We may be based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, England, but our business dealings take us all over Europe and beyond. Just to illustrate the point, earlier this week one of our service technicians flew over to Helsingborg in Sweden to instruct a team of concrete contractors from Latvia the art of operating the Whiteman Multiquip STX6H concrete power trowel.

The contractors had travelled from Latvia to work on a large contract in Helsingborg and the instructions for the job were quite simple. The concrete that they were contracted to place not only had to be super flat but at the same time, it had to be finished with an attractive surface that was both practical and polished.

After researching alternative concrete finishing and polishing technology they unhesitatingly plumped for the Whiteman Multiquip STX6H, rated by many as the world’s leading Fully Hydrostatic Ride on Power Trowel.

In order to train up the contractor team on this latest technology one of our service technicians, Zac, went across to help them get the very best out of the remarkable STX6H, which by virtue of having six blade assemblies and 33 per cent extra blade contact assures users that they will produce the flattest floor possible.

As part of the training schedule, Zac was able to demonstrate the full catalogue of exclusive STX6H features.

Cruise Control to reduce operator fatigue.

LED Lights for maximum illumination during nighttime or indoor working.

Retardant Spray System providing uniform coverage of the slab surface.

Proportional Hydraulic Steering for enhanced responsiveness.

SmartPitch™ synchronised blade pitch.

Multifunctional Display providing easy-to-read data that maximises efficiency.

Rotor Jog designed to ensure spiders rotate slowly to prevent surface marring as pans separate from the slab surface.

12 Volt Outlet for charging electronic devices.

Panning mode to make sure the trowel blades are completely flat so no pressure is applied to the pans.

As part of the training programme the contractors were able to operate the STX6H themselves in order that they could familiarise themselves with the technicalities and also that they were able to fully appreciate the unique Whiteman design features:

Clamshell Design for simpler maintenance

Automatic Shut-Down that stops the rotors if the operator stands up while the engine is running.

Increased Chassis Rigidity and Stability that reduces risk of body roll and improves steering control.

The STX6H, however, incorporates an additional feature of that will no doubt prove to be extremely beneficial to the Latvian team who regularly operate in cold northern countries. Cold Start Mode is a standard specification of this remarkable concrete power trowel. The STX6H also comes with Very Cold Start Mode, which restricts the engine from high revving in cold weather until the engine has reached the optimum temperature.

As part of the training schedule, Zac was also able to explain and demonstrate the advanced Lap Top diagnostic software that allows operators to accurately monitor the hydraulic activity and rotor speed performance.  A valuable facility that ensures the highest level of concrete finishing excellence at all times.
