Multiquip donates to CIM auction

The 2020 World of Concrete Construction Industry Management auction saw Multiquip donate the bestselling HHNG5 ride on concrete finisher.

The Concrete Industry Management program helps students within the construction sector aim towards a Bachelor of Science degree in the concrete industry. The CIM receive machinery donations from construction equipment companies for auction and have so far raised over £6million in 12 years for university programs.

Multiquip were proud to be able to support this program by donating an HHNG5the industry bestselling ride on concrete finisher. Bidders were in the great situation of knowing they were contributing to a great cause while also spending money on equipment to give them great results.

The features of the HHNG5 ride on concrete finisher really make it stand out from the crowd. The Stage 5 compliant 35HP Vanguard engine provides the power and the efficiency to deliver the performance required by contractors to get the best floor possible.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) provides superior performance by continually adjusting the drive ratio to obtain optimum torque and speed. This enables this ride on concrete finisher to adjust to all phases of the finishing process from low-speed high torque to high-speed burnishing.

What is Slab Armor??

Contractors are always keen to look for what can give them the edge with the construction of a concrete floor. At Multiquip, the Slab Armor range of products is designed to do exactly that. We can assist contractors to get their concrete floors tighter and stronger whilst at the same time eliminating dust and excessive wear.

What is Slab Armor? It is a two-step concrete curing, densifying and surface refinement system. The product is applied directly onto the concrete floor and worked in with a power trowel. It penetrates to a depth of 1” – increasing surface density and reducing permeability while providing abrasion resistance/wear characteristics comparable to trap rock or dry-shake hardeners.

What are ideal applications for Slab Armor? Floors in industrial manufacturing facilities, warehouses, agricultural facilities, water treatment plants, chemical processing facilities and oil refineries are ideal.
Slab Armor is recommended for use whenever and wherever a new concrete floor is placed and maximum hardness and durability are required.

How is the Slab Armor system applied? It is a two-step process that must be applied in accordance with the instructions on the technical data sheets and package label.
Slab Armor Starter is applied at time of placement and worked completely into the surface using a trowel equipped with float pans. The concrete floor is troweled until the desired level of burnish/finish is achieved.
Slab Armor Closer is applied immediately after power trowel finishing is completed following
label instructions.
Slab Armor Plus Seal & Shine is applied after cleaning the slab with an auto scrubber and
burnishing, it forms an insoluble chemical bond to produce a dense sealed surface, with a superior hardness, an enhanced gloss and a slip resistance concrete floor.

concrete floor

How does Slab Armor benefit the contractor? It enables the concrete floor to retain more moisture over a longer period of time, producing a tighter, higher strength and a more consolidated finish while eliminating dusting, pitting and excessive wear. A treated concrete floor keeps spills suspended on the surfaces substantially longer than untreated floors.
Once applied it provides a highly abrasion-resistant surface comparable to quartz shake hardener and will significantly improve the durability and sustainability of the concrete floor when compared to an untreated concrete floor. It can also significantly reduce costs by reducing the amount of secondary labour required as cracks are significantly reduced. Dry shake pigments and hardeners can be finished like regular concrete. As a side benefit, it also produces a high-gloss finish on the concrete floor.

Must Slab Armor Starter and Closer always be used together? Slab Armor is a system and the individual products cannot be used independently if you are seeking the full benefits of a Slab Armor floor. The Closer is a hydrophobic fixative (water repellent), that penetrates and cross-links with The Starter, quickly producing a higher level of initial hardness with minimal downtime. Slab Armor Plus Seal & Shine is essential for obtaining the desired level of performance and high-gloss aesthetics on a concrete floor.

Coleg Cambria is done – but not dusted

masonry saw

Multiquip UK were invited to an awareness day at Coleg Cambria alerting brickwork students about ways to combat silicosis in the construction industry. Our representative Kevin Welsh took along the iQMS362 Masonry Saw which proved to be an eye-opener for the young audience.

Silicosis is the biggest risk to construction workers after asbestos and as part of a construction safety workshop, Coleg Cambria were eager for us to come and show the up-and-coming brickies that the latest technology means they can say goodbye to dust and silica for good!!

The students were able to see first-hand the new iQMS362 masonry saw which is proving to be hugely popular with contractors for the significant health and benefits and unmatched cutting performance and speed of setup.

The iQMS362 brick saw is fitted with a vacuum system, filter system and a dust containment tray. The 270-degree dust reduction system captures the dust within the blade guard, rear dust guard and a louvred table also captures downdraft via a high powered vacuum.

In addition to the dust capture, the focused airflow from the vacuum keeps the blade cool to the touch during cutting. This means less heat, less friction, less warping and increased life of your saw blade and masonry saw.

This was the start of a busy day for Kevin. The afternoon was spent doing a demonstration for a contractor which resulted in a sale and a very happy customer as you can see from the review below:

“Was a bit hesitant to buy it at first as our Stihl saw has always done the job but this saw is a game changer. No dust, perfect cuts on brick and block, no noise pollution.

Absolute cracking bit of kit. Our joiner commented he had never seen the cut ups on a gable as good before – says it all because he moans about everything

Looking forward to doing a block paving job with it as that will set us apart from the competition”

We are also seeing new legislation in the workplace, especially in Ireland, meaning that employers and business owners can combine a great performing machine in a safe environment. A recent review of the iQMS362 masonry saw highlighted this.

I’m delighted with the iQMS362-CE 420 mm saw. A new national standard in Ireland requires masonry block samples to be dry-cut to yield a clean, flat surface for examination. The iQMS362-CE delivers this without generating dust, something which could never be done with a con-saw. The saw is well-built and solid, yet easy to move around and clean. I’m confident it will last for years

Demonstrations are currently happening up and down the UK. We are confident the iQMS362 masonry saw will provide the perfect investment for your business and your workforce. Less start-up time, less cleanup time, less wastage and most importantly, no harmful silica and dust to be inhaled by your workforce.
